What single adults without children should know

  • On a single income there is no second earner to fall back on — the plan has to stand on its own.
  • Plan cash flow against what you actually spend.
  • Set goals with a target date — an emergency fund is the usual first.
  • Track the recurring charges that quietly add up.
  • How an old will stops counting in Florida: You may revoke a will by a later inconsistent will or codicil, by a later signed-and-witnessed writing that says you revoke it, or by intentionally burning, tearing, canceling, defacing, obliterating, or destroying the original will. For an electronic will, revocation by act requires deleting, canceling, rendering unreadable, or obliterating it with intent, proved by clear and convincing evidence. Destroying a copy is not enough. Revoking a later will does not revive an earlier will unless Florida's revival statute says so. Source: Fla. Stat. §§ 732.505, 732.506, 732.508, 732.509.
